Now there's an easy way to handle intricate, inside curve-cutting jobs. The BDSS100 16 Variable Speed Scroll Saw offers a full 2-inch depth of cut for thick work pieces and a 16-inch arm-to-blade capacity with variable speeds for cutting wood, metal, plastic, and composites. For angle cutting, the table tilts up to 45 degrees to the left. This unit also has a handy fingertip blade tensioning control that assures longer blade life and minimizes blade breakage. Blade changes are simple with the Quickset II Blade Chuck, which snaps open and closed for fast blade threading and changing. A removable table insert allows easier access to the lower blade clamp and can be replaced with a plastic zero-clearance insert for splinter-free cutting. The variable speed motor allows you to select the exact speed needed for the best cutting results in a variety of materials. The parallel arm design keeps the blade moving straight up and down for more accurate cutting. An adjustable spring hold down keeps the work piece against the table for safer, more accurate cutting. Other convenient features include pre-drilled base holes for easy bench mounting and a dust blower built into the hold down to keep the cutting line free of sawdust for better visibility. The BDSS100 uses standard 5-inch plain end blades. The saw includes a 2 year warranty.

I purchased this saw from Amazon for my son to use doing fret and scroll work as he seemed interested in trying it for a hobby.After doing a little research and not wanting to make a large investment till it was clear he liked it I made a perfect choice.For the money invested in this saw it was clearly the best choice. For hundreds less than the saws I reviewed it has most all the features and specs. as the others.Now that he has one I want one also and for the money in my opinion it is the clear choice.The only drawback is when I purchased his it was $116.00 and eligible for the super saver shipping on (7/3/08)now it costs approx. $30.00 more for shipping and $4.00 more for the saw since super saver shipping is not available (7/27/08).Even so the saw is still a good choice.
