To give you optimum range and accuracy, this CST Berger automatic level has a magnetically dampened, wire-hung compensator with a compensator lock that protects it during transport, and also acts as a checking tool. The large, easy-to-use focusing knob has a minimum focus of 1-foot, with a top-mounted optical peep sight providing quick reference. Water resistant, this level features a penta prism for bubble viewing, an easy-to-read horizontal circle, and sealed, dust-protected leveling screws. 1:100 stadia for distance estimation. 5/8-inch by 11 threads fit standard tripod. You kit includes case, accessories, tripod, and rod.

Of course you are not going to get the same quality and precision as you would with a similar type of setup costing hundreds more so don't expect it. I've used these type of instruments for over twenty-one years and I've seen worse for a higher price. The main telltale sign as far as quality is in the fine turning and level adjustment knobs which are very flimsy and jerky. Not as smooth as one with better quality hardware, bearings, etc. but that should be expected. Surprisingly the optics are very good and accurate. Not sure if this unit could stand up to heavy use every day but I only bought it for occasional reading and shooting of grades and it has worked very good and flawlessly for my limited needs so far.
