Product Description
This fine machinist-quality 6" caliper may well become your personal "ultimate measuring tool". We call it a woodworker's caliper because it is calibrated in 64ths of an inch, with major divisions marked in the terms you're most familiar with: 1/16, 1/8, 3/16, 1/4 and so on around the dial. The face is large (1-3/8" dia.) and exceptionally easy to read; dimensions as small as 1/128" are visible at a glance. The inner scale reads in hundredths of an inch, which is useful for machine work and serves as a handy conversion table as well.

Do you actually have any success in measuring thicknesses with tapes or rulers? Can you convert decimals to fractions? Are all your boards the exact thickness you want? Is the thickness guage on your planer accurate? Do you enjoy sanding? Studies show that 87% of the time the answer is no and you should do something about it. This tool will keep you from being just another sad statistic. Actual fractions and decimals on the dial. Outside, inside and depth measurements. Perfect fits on your dados, perfect settings on your machinery and no more having to sand a cabinet door down to the level of the thinnest board in the assembly (I have heard that this happens). Precise heighth adjustment on blades and bits is more than just nice. I never really thought about woodworking calipers until I came across them while searching Amazon for something else. It seemed obvious that they would come in handy and it turns out that I use them continuously. I really do not know how I did without them, as the cliche goes. There is no better endorsement than to say that my work really is better and easier. The calipers are of excellent quality. Everything moves and slides freely with no slop or play. Wish I could say the same thing for some of my other tools and machines... This is indeed a tool you need and will be happy with.
