DeWalt has put together a powerful pair of cordless tools in this kit: the heavy-duty XRP 1/2-inch cordless hammerdrill/drill/driver and its heavy-duty 6-3/4-inch cordless metal cutting circular saw. Both units run on 18V XR+ battery packs. The hammerdrill/drill/driver features a three-speed, all-metal transmission, with speeds of 0-450, 0-1,450 and 0-2,000 rpm, along with hammer action of 0-7,650, 0-24,650 and 0-34,000 bpm respectively. A keyless single-sleeve chuck allows one-handed chuck operation, while a 360 degree side handle provides better overall control. The unit comes equipped with a 22-setting torque adjustment collar, an anti-slip comfort grip and an electric brake. The circular saw can power its way through many of the toughest metal surfaces, including steel pipe, conduit, steel studs, angle iron, threaded rod and more. All-metal upper and lower guards provide added strength, while self-lubricating ball and roller bearings improve performance and require no messy oiling. The saw cuts to a depth of 2-3/8 inches and spins at 3,100 rpm. A pivoting shoe allows the operator to set the depth of cut easily. Side and front sight windows provide good visibility of the cut line. And a trigger-switch lock-off button means added safety.--Carl Thress
