The David White 48-MATRX54E is the most versatile laser tool available for the general or interior contractor. With 4 Laser-Crosses at 90 degrees to each other and a laser cross on the ceiling, the MATRX54E sets itself as the most useful laser tool available. Laser lines are individually switchable allowing you to put laser lines only in the areas you want. Additionally, a graduated circle and tangent knobs make rotating the MATRX54E an ease to get on line. To keep you from making any errors, the MATRX54E also has a visible alarm to indicate unwanted position movement. You can even use it with your standard 5/8x11 tripod. The MATRX54E also sets itself apart by offering pulsing Horziontal or Vertical lines that when used with the included Laser Line Detector enables the user to detect the lines when they can not be seen due to lighting conditions. I almost bought the DeWalt laser level because it can take my other DeWalt tools' batteries. Thanks to my reading other customers reviews I was desuaded away from this product and persuaded towards the David White. This level is a great little all rounder for its size and price. I tested it for accuracy, as directed by the instructions, and found it to be 3mm out of level placed between two walls 4 metres apart. That's totally acceptable. The only problem I had was with the instruction book's wording. Couldn't activate the pulsing beam in order to use the laser detector. Tried phoning the USA helpline but always got an answering machine. Eventually phoned the German helpline and they got back to me with the info I needed; press and hold the downward beam button for the laser detector to work. It really is three levels built into one but it doesn't score a maximum star rating with me for 3 reasons: (1)It lacks easy to follow instructions. (2)It's slightly less accurate than a self leveling laser. (3)It would be a dream if it had some sort of wall mount attachment for suspended ceiling setup.
