The initial cost is more, but in the long run, the increased operating life and low maintenance, make these 3600 RPM gen-sets a better value, over gasoline engines. Both Lombardini and Kubota offer a 3 year warranty, along with best estimates of 3 years (Lombardini and 5 years (Kubota) of service life, under average use conditions, before normal repairs are required.
