Clean up a large yard or field after pruning, mowing, weeding, or aerating with minimal heavy lifting with this efficient lawn sweeper from Illinois-based Agri-Fab. Hitched up behind a tractor, the lawn sweeper brushes up leaves, grass, and even fine straw into a spacious hopper in 42-inch wide swathes. Easy to use and requiring minimal maintenance, the lawn sweeper eliminates most debris with one pass.
The lawn sweeper picks up remnants of yard work by lowering the replaceable brushes a 1/2-inch into the grass, though the brush height can be adjusted to accommodate any depth. With brushes spanning approximately 10 inches, the sweeper offers a brush-to-wheel ratio of 5 brushes per wheel. The adjustable hopper provides up to 12 cubic feet for waste and collapses flat for compact storage. A windscreen prevents wind gusts from blowing swept dirt and leaves back onto the ground. An upright handle on the sweeper allows users to dump contents from the tractor seat. The sweeper travels diverse terrains on two 11-by-2-1/2- semi-pneumatic tires. A hitch pin is included for quick tractor hook-up. The lawn sweeper only activates brushes while in forward movement and will not sweep while reversing. No tools are needed to assemble the sweeper for use. Manufactured in the USA, the sweeper may be covered under a limited one-year warranty. Some items are not meant to be bought on the internet. This is one of them. Buying lawn and Garden equipment such as this sight unseen is nuts, and I must have been. Here's the details: The quality is poor. I have put together childrens toys built with better materials than this. Yes, you DO need a few tools to build it. A 1/2 inch box wrench and a wratchet with a socket. THe instructions for the sweeping unit are pretty simple and that part of it went together mostly OK. THe hardware sack that includes washers, nuts and bolts etc was missing one hex bolt and a 2 lockwashers which I replaced with the same from my personal jar of spares I keep in my garage. I'm a veteren of putting together products from IKEA, outdoor grills, kids bicycles and other such things so I have learned to always do a quick inventory of all the pieces before you start. The materials used in this unit are, well...cheap. Not a thing about this sweeper warrants the term "heavy duty". The bagging unit has a tent-like covering that reminds you of that special closeout deal the hardware store gives you on tarps every fall. Very thin, almost paper-like. It didnt even have re-enforced stitching in places to add strength. If it lasts one summer I'll be suprised. There is tubing throughtout that is of the soft, almost pliable (sp) Again, not industrial grade by any means. AFter I finished putting together the catcher (which assembles like one of those popup tents you buy for a weekend camping trip....you'll need patience)I rechecked everything for tightness and security and hooked it up to my garden tractor for a test on my 3 acres. From a technology standpoint, it did a good job. Everything worked the way it was suppose to, I guess. The catcher needs frequent dumping if you're doing a large area. If I did this again, I would opt for a much larger unit. THis was the almost comical part: They give you this small length of thin, coated rope to tie to the top of the bagging unit which emptys by pulling on the rope and tilting the unit forward, so you don't have to get off the tractor.. Ok, yes it works, but my hands now have rope burns on them like I've been water skiing all day without the handles. I dont think the designers of this part of the system understood how heavy a bagger full of fresh cut (damp) grass can weigh.... After a couple of hours of use, the adjustment handle that controls the height of the sweepers fell off and I had to stop and do a field repair. Also one of the plastic ends caps that fits over one of the aluminum pieces had gone missing as well as a nut on the hitch unit had worked itself loose. Another field repair. TIP: Bring your tools with you, you'll be needing them. Bottom line; I would have boxed this thing back up and emailed Amazon for a return if I had known what lay ahead. I should have realized that with materials as cheap as are used here (lots of plastic this-and-that) that this product will be lucky to make it through the summer.
